Large and small skip hire is our speciality. Customers should carefully consider the size of the skip they need, as over or underestimating can lead to higher costs. Below, you can find a breakdown of our skip sizing (with BSM Group’s transparent pricing).

For customers with more extensive needs, larger skips are available upon request.

Our 2-tonne skip is suitable for minor home renovations, garden clearance or general household waste. It has a capacity of approximately 20 bin bags. Great for smaller jobs, selecting this option for your skip hire could save you money.

The 4-tonne skip is mid-sized and suitable for slightly larger domestic projects, including kitchen or bathroom refits. Holding around 30-40 bin bags, it offers enough room to manage waste from moderate renovation work while fitting on most standard-sized driveways.

Once you’ve made initial contact via your preferred method, we’ll need you to provide project details. Share information about the type and volume of waste, the skip size you require, and the desired hire period. Our team will then confirm availability. If the period is free, we will provide you with a quote and arrange delivery at a time that suits you.

What can I put in my skip?

Our skips may only be used to store permissible materials, such as:

– General household waste

– Packaging materials (paper, cardboard)

– Construction debris

– Plastic and metal scrap

– Garden waste

You do not need a permit for the disposal of non-hazardous materials.

To mix non-hazardous and hazardous waste, customers will need to hire specialist containers and may need to apply to the Environment Agency for an environmental permit. The materials you cannot store in our skips include:

Hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos, paint, solvents, chemicals)
Plasterboard
Astro Turf
Gas cylinders and bottles (even if empty)
Specific flooring materials (carpet, carpet tiles, ceiling tiles, rubber/lino flooring)
Upholstery
Specific furniture (bed mattress, sofa)
Car parts
Felt/foam
Wet concrete

Skip Permits

When hiring a skip in Liverpool (and around the North West), you’ll need a permit if you plan to place the skip on a public highway. The public highway is defined as any land outside the immediate boundary of your property (verges, roads or pavement).

In Liverpool, a skip permit costs £20 and is valid for a maximum of 7 days. However, the price may vary depending on the local authority (e.g., Sefton, Knowsley, Wirral). If you need the skip for a longer period, you’ll need to apply for a new permit upon expiry.

Should BSM Group determine that your skip needs to be placed on the public highway, either partially or completely, we will handle the permit application process on your behalf. We’ll coordinate with Liverpool City Council to secure the necessary permit.

If we initially determine that a permit isn’t required but later find upon delivery that one is necessary, we will inform you right away. If we proceed to leave the skip with you, the cost of the permit will be added to your booking.

Returning your skip

Once you’ve filled your skip, contact our office to arrange for the BSM Group team to collect it. We’ll then work with you to coordinate a convenient pickup time.

Areas

Cheap skips are available to customers in all ‘L’ postcodes (e.g., L15, L25, L1). To accommodate our clients in Widnes and St Helens, our services also extend to WA8, WA9, and WA10.

BSM Group also covers Southport and neighbouring regions, including the WN8 area, including Skelmersdale and PR8. If you live in the Wirral and are interested in our cheap skip hire services, this may be available to customers upon request.

To keep waste to an absolute minimum, we operate a ‘reduce, recycle, and reuse’ policy throughout our business, including in the yard, workshops, offices, and on the road.

Eco-Friendly Transport

We get to clients all across the North West using diesel engine motor vehicles powered with ‘AdBlue’: a liquid designed to help reduce harmful exhaust emissions (NOx) and improve their fuel efficiency.

Optimised Logistics

Our top-of-the-range wagons are regularly updated, and we do our best to schedule the ‘pick-up’ and ‘drop-off’ of our skips carefully to reduce mileage, fuel use and emissions.

Frequently Asked Questions

When your skip is full (on or before the agreed-upon pick-up day), contact the BSM Group team at 0151 660 6405. We will aim to pick it up as soon as possible.

Subject to availability, we will facilitate requests for timed collections.

You can place a skip on your property (e.g., your front garden, patio, or driveway) without a permit. However, if you need to place a skip on public land (e.g., verges, pavement, roads), you will need to apply for a permit with your local authority.

Clients can keep their skips off-road for 14 days. If the skips are placed on or next to the public highway, customers can keep them for 7 days.

If you contact the office 48 hours before collection is due and request to keep the skip longer, we will do our best to accommodate you; however, this will incur an additional weekly cost of £30.

All waste is taken to a waste transfer station in Liverpool; 0% of our waste is sent to landfills.

According to UK and EU legislation, non-recycled items will be processed at a treatment facility.

The collection of overloaded skips will be refused, and the skip will not be collected until the height is lowered to the load level. Skips must be level-loaded at all times to ensure safety, and that rubbish remains contained whilst in transit.

   Booking for the job was plan sailing, Billy the digger driver was great and did the job as required , stayed till late on a Friday evening due to issues at the beginning of the morning, then came back on the Saturday to finish off. Grabber drivers collected all of the earth and rubble.
